A South Florida family business since 1970
More than 55 years ago, South Florida was a seasonal place. Every winter, snowbirds flew south to the apartments and condos lining the coast. Every spring, they left them behind, shuttered and quiet, until the next season. And when they came back, something had almost always gone wrong while they were gone: an air conditioner that quit in the heat, a refrigerator that gave out, a water heater rusted through by the salt air.
Our President’s father, the grandfather of our current Vice President, was a technician who understood what those homeowners really wanted. Beyond someone to fix things when they got back, they wanted the peace of mind of knowing their home was cared for while they were thousands of miles away. So he and his founding partner had an idea: give them one company to look after their whole home, one number to call, one team that would be there whenever they returned to the sunshine.
That idea became a simple service contract, and it offered two things people cared about. Peace of mind, from knowing a dependable company would always be there, and affordability, because a full year of coverage cost about what one or two repair calls would. Total Appliance & A/C Repairs, Inc. was born.
In the decades since, South Florida changed around us. The seasonal coastline filled in with year-round residents. The low skyline gave way to high-rise towers. The families who once came only for the winter began calling this place home for good.
Total grew right alongside that skyline, from maintaining winter apartments to caring for the AC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances in condos, houses, and commercial buildings across three counties, every month of the year. That promise of one reliable company still runs everything we do today.
Why we changed our name from Total Appliance
We were never just an appliance company. When Total started, “appliance” was a much broader word. Looking after someone’s appliances meant caring for the working systems of their whole home, the air conditioning, the plumbing, the electrical, and the machines in the kitchen and laundry room. We did all of it from the very beginning.
Over time, the everyday meaning of that word narrowed. Today most people hear “appliance” and picture a refrigerator or a washing machine, not a full-home service company. So as a new wave of residents moved into Miami and the rest of South Florida, people who did not already know us would see “appliance” in our name and assume that was all we do. In truth, appliance repair is one of the smallest parts of our business.
So we made a change that reflects who we have always been: Total Repair Pros. The name is broader on purpose, because our work always has been. What did not change is just as important. We are still owned by the same family, we were not bought out by private equity, and we are not a franchise. Same people, same standards, but now a name that better suits what we do.
What Total is today
Total takes care of the systems that keep a South Florida home or building running: air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and appliances. There are three ways we do it, so you can choose what fits your home and how you like to plan for repairs.
Home warranties
When Total started, we called these service contracts. The big national companies later made the name “home warranty” familiar for the same idea: one plan that covers the repairs your home will eventually need, for a predictable yearly cost. The difference is that ours is local and handled entirely in-house. Choose a plan that covers your AC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances together, or a more focused plan such as HVAC and plumbing.

That mission is personal to us. We are a family business built around one simple idea: when something in your home goes wrong, you should have a company you trust to make it right, and one number to call to get it done.
To us, that also means honest advice and fair, reasonable pricing. Across our industry, more and more local companies are being bought up by private equity groups under pressure to hit a number, which too often turns a simple service call into a push for the most expensive option. As an independent, family-owned business, we answer to our customers and our name, not to outside investors. We would rather fix what can be fixed, recommend replacing something only when it truly makes sense, and give you a fair price you can feel good about.

Are you the same company as Total Appliance & A/C Repairs?
Yes. Total Repair Pros is the same company that operated as Total Appliance & A/C Repairs, Inc. Same ownership, same team, same phone number. Only the name on the truck changed, so it better reflects the full range of work we do.
Were you bought out by private equity or a national chain?
No. We are still owned by the same family that has run Total for three generations. We were not acquired by a private equity group and we are not part of a national roll-up. The name change was our own decision, not a change in ownership.
Are you a franchise?
No. Total is an independent, family-owned South Florida company. There are no franchise owners and no outside corporate office setting our pricing or standards. The people who answer your call are the people who own the business.
Why change the name at all?
Because the word “appliance” has narrowed over the years. When Total started, it was a broad term for a home’s working systems, and we have always done air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical work alongside appliance repair. Today most people hear “appliance” and think we only fix refrigerators and washers. As more new residents moved into the area, the old name gave the wrong impression, so we chose one that fits what we have always done.
Are you licensed, insured, and bonded?
Yes. Total holds Florida licenses for HVAC (CMC1250406), plumbing (CFC1432410), and electrical (EC0001244), and we are fully insured and bonded in the State of Florida. Our technicians are factory-trained employees, not subcontractors.
