Toilet Repair & Installation in South Florida
Running toilets, weak flushes, wax-ring leaks, full replacements, and bidet seat add-ons. All from one licensed plumber.
Total’s licensed plumbers handle every toilet job across South Florida
A toilet that runs constantly, flushes weakly, or leaks at the base is more than a small annoyance. Ignored, it typically leads to rising water bills, moisture that can slowly damage the flooring around the toilet, and a fixture that may need a bigger fix in the near future. Total handles the full range: quick internal repairs, complete rebuilds, full replacements, upgrades to modern water-efficient or ADA-height models, and bidet seat add-ons. Because we hold both plumbing (CFC1432410) and electrical (EC0001244) licenses in-house, we’re one of the few South Florida companies that can install a bidet seat AND the required GFCI outlet in the same visit. Written, flat-rate quote before any work starts.
When Your Toilet Needs Service
Toilets are the most-used fixture in the house, and the one homeowners put off servicing the longest. Below is what to look for, the brands and models we install, and how bidet seats have moved from luxury to a routine add-on across South Florida homes.

Everyday Signs Something’s Wrong with Your Toilet
These are the day-to-day symptoms most homeowners notice first. Individually they might feel small; however, when multiple show up together, the internals are usually past their service life.
The most common failure. Water keeps trickling into the bowl or the tank keeps refilling. Usually a worn flapper or a failing fill valve. Cheap parts, but they waste 200+ gallons per day if ignored.
Waste doesn’t clear, or the tank empties without the full “swirl.” Often mineral buildup in the siphon jets or the flapper releasing too early. In some cases, a partial drain line clog.
The tank refills briefly on its own every 20-30 minutes, even when nobody’s used it. In effect, a slow flapper leak lets water drain into the bowl until the fill valve triggers a refill.
If one specific toilet clogs weekly and the others don’t, the flush volume is too low, the trap has mineral buildup, or the drain line has a partial obstruction. A quick diagnostic tells us which.
A running flapper is a top-3 cause of unexplained water bill jumps. Overall, it’s cheap to fix once located and expensive to ignore. Check yours in seconds with our dye-drop self-test video, and see our condo case study where flapper replacement saved $18,000 a month.
Structural Damage & Leak Signs on a Toilet
These are the signs that mean the fixture has moved past internal wear and into leak or structural territory. In short, waiting is expensive.
The wax ring or the closet flange has failed. Water reaches the subfloor and stays there. Consequently, left long enough, the flooring rots and the floor around the toilet gets soft.
The bolts holding the toilet to the flange are loose, or the flange itself is cracked. Wobble usually means the wax seal is being broken, so a leak is coming even if you don’t see one yet.
Hairline cracks usually mean full replacement. Because porcelain won’t hold pressure long-term, it will fail suddenly, and sometimes catastrophically.
Toilets We Install
Total installs every major residential toilet brand. Three we stock and install most frequently in South Florida homes:
TOTO
Drake, Ultramax, and Neorest lines. Best-in-class flush performance and reliability. Widely considered the top residential toilet brand in North America and the standard bidet-seat compatible platform (TOTO Washlet).
Kohler
Wellworth, Cimarron, and Highline lines. Strong all-around performance, excellent parts availability, and a wide range of comfort-height (ADA-friendly) and dual-flush models.
American Standard
Cadet 3 and Champion 4 lines. Reliable powerful flush, comfort-height options, and one of the best price-to-performance ratios. Popular for whole-home replacements and rentals.
If you have a preferred brand or model (or an existing color-matched fixture set to preserve), call us before you buy. We’ll confirm fit, availability, and whether the model plays well with any bidet seats or upgrades you’re planning.
Bidet Seat Add-Ons for Your Toilet: a Total Specialty
Bidet seats are one of our fastest-growing installs across South Florida. They mount on any modern toilet (with minor caveats on very-old two-piece models), add a heated cleansing wash, and eliminate most toilet paper use. Common brands we install:
- TOTO Washlet. The category leader; fits TOTO toilets natively and most standard elongated bowls.
- Kohler bidet seats. PureWarmth and PureWash lines, fits most standard bowl shapes.
- Brondell Swash. Solid mid-tier option; wide bowl compatibility.
- Bio Bidet. Value pick with strong features per dollar.
Why Total is the right installer: most bidet seats need two things. First, a new cold-water branch line off the toilet supply. Second, a GFCI-protected outlet within reach of the seat’s power cord. By contrast, a plumbing-only company has to sub the outlet work out to an electrician, or ask you to arrange it. Meanwhile, Total holds both a Florida plumbing license (CFC1432410) and a Florida electrical license (EC0001244) in-house, so both trades happen on the same visit with one company, one invoice, and one accountable service record on the installation work.
Toilet Repair vs Rebuild vs Replace
Not every failing toilet needs to be replaced. The right answer depends on what’s broken, how old the toilet is, and whether you’re planning any upgrades.
- Toilet repair is better when: a single internal part has failed (flapper, fill valve, flush lever), the toilet is otherwise sound, and the model is modern enough that parts are readily available. Usually a same-visit fix.
- Toilet rebuild is better when: multiple internals are failing at once, the tank is 10+ years old, or the wax ring has failed alongside internal wear. We swap flapper, fill valve, flush handle, and wax ring in one visit. As a result, the toilet comes out functionally new for a fraction of a replacement cost.
- Toilet replacement is better when: the tank or bowl is cracked, the toilet is 20+ years old and using 3.5+ gallons per flush, you’re upgrading to a comfort-height (ADA) model, or you want a dual-flush water-efficient toilet. It’s also the natural answer if you’re adding a bidet seat and the existing bowl isn’t compatible.

Toilet Repair & Installation FAQ
How much does toilet repair cost?
Every toilet call is different, so pricing is quoted on site rather than published up front. For example, a single-part fix (flapper, fill valve) sits at the low end. However, a full internal rebuild with a new wax ring is mid-range. Meanwhile, a full replacement varies with the toilet model chosen. Call (954) 900-6767 for an honest range for your situation, or schedule the visit for a written, flat-rate quote before any work starts.
Should I repair or replace my toilet?
In general, it depends on the age, the failure, and whether you’re planning any upgrades. For example, under 15 years old with one failed internal part: repair. However, over 20 years old, cracked porcelain, using 3.5+ gallons per flush, or upgrading to comfort-height or dual-flush: replace. Overall, everything in between is a judgment call we make on site based on the actual condition.
How long does a new toilet installation take?
Overall, most single-toilet replacements run 60-90 minutes on-site, including removing the old toilet, prepping the flange, installing the new wax ring, setting the new toilet, connecting the supply, and testing. Additionally, same-day service is available for most calls once the toilet is on hand.
What toilets do you install?
All major residential brands. In particular, we stock and install TOTO, Kohler, and American Standard most frequently. Additionally, we’re happy to install a specific brand or model you’ve picked out. Call ahead so we can confirm fit and any relevant supply-line or flange details before we arrive.
Can you install a bidet seat on my existing toilet?
In most cases, yes. Modern toilets from the major brands are bidet-compatible; we confirm bowl shape and mounting before installing. The install includes running a new cold-water branch line off the toilet supply and installing a GFCI-protected outlet within reach of the seat’s power cord. Because Total holds both plumbing and electrical licenses in-house, both trades happen on the same visit with one company.
What’s the difference between a dual-flush and standard toilet?
A dual-flush has two flush buttons: a partial flush (about 0.8 gallons) for liquid waste and a full flush (about 1.28 gallons) for solid waste. Standard modern toilets use 1.28 or 1.6 gallons per flush no matter what. Dual-flush saves water over time and is often the pick for whole-home replacements when water bills or environmental impact are a priority.
Do you install ADA-height (comfort height) toilets?
Yes. Comfort-height toilets sit about 2″ taller than standard, making them much easier for older adults, taller people, and anyone with mobility limitations. Most modern lines (TOTO Drake II, Kohler Cimarron, American Standard Cadet 3) offer both standard and comfort-height variants.
How do I stop my toilet from running?
Nine times out of ten, it’s a worn flapper or a failing fill valve. For a 30-second at-home check, watch our dye-drop self-test video: a few drops of food coloring in the tank tell you within a minute whether your flapper is leaking. You can also lift the tank lid and watch. If water is trickling from the flapper into the bowl continuously, the flapper is the culprit. If the fill valve keeps running after the tank is full, that’s the fill valve. Both are cheap parts, quick fixes, and prime candidates for a same-day service call, especially because a running toilet can waste 200+ gallons per day. See our real-world condo case study where flapper replacement saved $18,000 a month for what those wasted gallons add up to at scale.
Is a leaking toilet an emergency?
Water pooling at the base of the toilet is an active leak into the subfloor and does need same-day service. The subfloor damage is usually more expensive than the actual toilet fix. A running toilet or ghost flushing is not a hard emergency but is wasting water 24/7, so most homeowners still want it fixed within a few days.
Are toilet repairs covered under Total’s Home Service Warranty?
Yes. Toilet repairs (running toilets, weak flush, wax ring, internal parts) are covered under Total’s Home Service Warranty. Unlimited service calls, no trip charges, and no co-pays. Full replacement toilets are not covered by the plan itself (that’s an equipment purchase), but plan members get priority scheduling and preferred pricing on replacements when they come up. See the Home Service Warranty pricing page for full details.
