An Open Letter to Our Valued Customers & the Home Service Industry
From the Desk of Robert Southard Jr., President & Owner
Dear Valued Customers, Partners, and Industry Colleagues,
In light of the recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by Air Pros (a company that rapidly expanded through acquisitions), I want to address the growing concern about large-scale “roll-ups” in our home repair and service warranty industry. My family has proudly operated our business for over 55 years, and we want to make our position clear:
1. We are not involved in the Air Pros bankruptcy. Despite rumors surrounding recent acquisitions across our industry, we have had—and continue to have—no affiliation with Air Pros, its parent entities, or any associated companies.
2. We are not bankrupt. We remain financially healthy, stable, and focused on serving our customers. Our commitment to the families and businesses who rely on us has never wavered.
3. We have always been, and remain, family-owned. Since my father founded this company in 1970, we have stayed independent to ensure we serve our community’s best interests. I have personally been involved in this industry for over 40 years, served as Vice President for nearly 20 years, and my son now serves as Vice President. My daughter also works as the Marketing Director. Although we’re approached numerous times each year—sometimes multiple times a month—with offers to sell or merge, we choose to remain privately held. Through these decades, we have seen multiple corporate buyouts and mergers, many launched with the promise of “improved efficiencies.” Many have struggled to keep customer relationships and personalized service intact.
Years ago, for example, a well-known property management company purchased one of our competitors but significantly changed its local culture and service model. They ultimately shuttered operations within a short period, leaving customers in search of more reliable support.
4. Why we stand apart: we put the customers first. We believe the people we serve should never bear the brunt of short-sighted cost cutting. By remaining independent, we can make decisions based on what’s best for you, not distant corporate shareholders.
Our in-house model—employing licensed and insured technicians and running our own service call center—ensures accountability, consistent quality, and a personal touch. We realize some roll-ups may maintain solid performance over time, but all too often, the rush to consolidate can erode local accountability and service standards.
5. We are committed to a future that serves our customers. While others grapple with bankruptcy proceedings and break-up sales, we will continue building on our legacy of putting the customer first. Our family’s name and reputation are tied to each job we complete. After more than 55 years in business, we remain dedicated to providing honest, personalized service—free from the distractions of shareholders or constant mergers. By staying independent, we ensure you receive the highest level of care from people who genuinely value your home and your peace of mind.
When these roll-up failures occur, it’s the customers who pay the price in delayed service, reduced support, and diminished quality. By remaining independent, we ensure you receive the highest level of service from people who genuinely care about your home and your peace of mind.
We appreciate your trust and look forward to continuing to provide the dependable, personalized service you deserve.
