What’s Covered Under a Total Home Warranty
When you purchase a home warranty with Total, you’re actually purchasing peace of mind. Our warranty service contracts are designed to keep your home’s most important systems and appliances running without surprise costs, while also giving you flexibility to create the coverage that fits your lifestyle.
Here’s what you should know about what’s included, how coverage works, and why choosing the right contract matters.
Important Note: Coverage always depends on the final, signed contract. This is a plain-English overview and does not replace the full service contract term.
Three Out-of-the-Box Plans to Choose From
Total offers three ready-to-go warranty plans. Each one is built to cover the basics most homeowners need, including air conditioning, appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems. These plans are designed to make it easy to get started quickly without overthinking which items are most important.
Customized Coverage Options
Not every home is the same, and neither are the people who live there. That’s why we give you the option to customize your plan. Want plumbing and air conditioning covered, plus just your refrigerator and freezer—but not the full appliance package? That’s no problem. Just give our office a call (or text!) at 954-900-6767 or send us an email and we’ll put together a service warranty that reflects exactly what you want protected.

Repair Coverage vs. Replacement Coverage on Your Home Warranty
One of the most important things to understand is the difference between repair coverage and replacement coverage.
Repair coverage means we provide labor to fix covered items and, in many cases, replace necessary parts (with certain limits depending on age, type, and availability). You may be responsible for the cost of some parts, especially when they are older or no longer widely available.
Replacement coverage takes protection a step further. If your contract includes replacement coverage, and one of your covered systems or appliances cannot be repaired, we’ll replace it—up to the limits stated in your plan. For example:
- Air Conditioning: Replacement limits range from $1,500 for a condensing unit to $1,700 for a package unit.
- Appliances: Depending on the appliance, replacement reimbursement can range from $175 (microwave) up to $800 (refrigerator).
- Water Heaters: Replacement coverage can provide up to $950 for larger units.
Replacement coverage only applies when repair is not possible, which is defined as when parts are no longer available or when repair costs equal or exceed 50% of the cost of a new, comparable unit.
What’s Included in Total Warranty’s Everyday Coverage
Your Total home warranty can cover the following, depending on your chosen plan:
- Air Conditioning: Service for covered components, with emergency support if you have a medical requirement or food preservation concern.
- Appliances: Coverage for major household appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, washers, and dryers (within specific age and condition limits).
- Plumbing: Repairs for leaks, stoppages, toilet tank parts, angle stops, and more under standard coverage; extended coverage can include piping repairs up to one inch in size and removal of toilets for wax seal replacements.
- Electrical: Replacement of switches, receptacles, breakers, and repairs to accessible short circuits.
What Isn’t Covered
Just as important as what’s included is what isn’t. Certain items fall outside warranty coverage unless explicitly written into your contract. These may include:
- Hidden plumbing or electrical lines behind walls
- Lighting fixtures like chandeliers and ceiling fans
- Cosmetic parts such as knobs, trays, or shelves
- Refrigerators over 10 years old and microwaves over 5 years old
- Garage doors and garage power
- Various exclusions based on coverage you do or don’t purchase
Emergency Support When You Need It Most
We know breakdowns don’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule. That’s why we provide emergency service 365 days a year for certain items:
- Refrigerators (to preserve food)
- Plumbing with serious leaks
- Electrical equipment sparking or shorting
- Air conditioning when medically required
We even supply a loaner refrigerator and food spoilage credit if we can’t reach you in time.
Your Total Home Warranty is designed to give you confidence that the essentials in your home are protected. With three simple plans, full customization available, and the choice between repair or replacement coverage, you can design a warranty contract that works exactly for your needs.
